“What am I training for? Life, motherf*cker” - I love this recent quote from pro runner Des Linden as spring and summer races cancel.
I’ve been in the habit of only posting about my running on race days, when I’ve crossed a tangible finish line. In reality, running is a big part of my every day life, and only a small fraction of those days include finish lines. With racing being on hold for awhile many of us are asking ourselves...why am I still training? Why do I run in the first place?
For me, it’s the consistency structured training brings to my life, being on a journey of the pursuit of progress, and the community of strong humans it’s introduced me to. Not to mention Penelope would be very cranky without her morning miles, so that makes two of us!
